Ink Publishing opens Hong Kong office and continues its rapid advance in Asia

Ink Publishing announced it has further expanded its operations in Asia, having opened an office in Hong Kong on 1 December, 2006. This is Ink’s fifth office globally, with other offices located in London , Singapore , New York , and Atlanta .

By adding a Hong Kong office to its portfolio, Ink Publishing further galvanizes its position as the largest producer of inflight magazines in the world and strengthens its rapidly growing presence in the Australasian market, where the company now already publishes seven magazines. This is further confirmation of Ink’s global capabilities and sector expertise as an inflight publishing specialist.

The new office will service China Airlines’ new ground-breaking inflight services and entertainment guide, Sky Couch, as well as additional Asian inflight magazines to be announced in the coming weeks.

Jeffrey O’Rourke, Ink Publishing Chief Executive, commented: “We are thrilled to be opening our doors in Hong Kong and to be publishing Chinese language magazines. Hong Kong has a tremendous commercial energy running through it, and it is great to put down roots here.”

O’Rourke continued: “Airline passengers are not your typical consumers – they are affluent, well-educated decision-makers who are interested in travel and business. The Chinese and Asian marketplace has never been more vibrant, and with more and more consumer goods, financial services and leisure products being developed for the region, we feel a great deal of our current and future success in Asia is tied to the need that advertisers have to reach this rapidly developing market. It is for this reason our magazines are so popular amongst advertisers – they can target this highly-desirable demographic of hard-to-reach consumers when they are open to new suggestions and in a receptive mindset.”

Stephen Wong, newly appointed Managing Director of Ink’s Hong Kong office, said: “After over 10 years working in media, I am very excited to join the Ink team. We are already publishing and selling two magazines from our Hong Kong office, CNN Traveller Asia Pacific and China Airlines Sky Couch, and will announce the third in the coming weeks. At the moment, our greatest challenge is finding great salespeople for our rapidly growing portfolio of brand-name magazines, but we are very confident in the quality of our products and approach to the inflight publishing market.”

Simon Leslie, Ink Publishing’s Group Publishing Director, said: “We are delighted to appoint Stephen Wong as the Managing Director of our Hong Kong office. As Publishing Director of QPORT COMMUNICATIONS and as Advertising Director of Asia-city Publishing Group, Stephen has worked with some of the largest companies and advertising agencies in the world, helping to promote their brands throughout Asia . We know his years of experience in the Asian market will enable him to work with advertisers to get incredible value, tailoring campaigns to suit their individual needs.”
