Smile, Cebu Pacific’s inflight magazine, wins hearts of passengers and flies off seatbacks

The inaugural issue of Cebu Pacific’s inflight magazine Smile has proven to be such a huge success that Cebu Pacific and Ink Publishing have commissioned a second print run of 25,000 copies just weeks after the magazine was first introduced onboard aircraft this October.

Simon Leslie, Group Publishing Director of Ink Publishing, said: “We couldn’t be happier with passenger’s response to Smile. Having launched 17 inflight magazines, we usually know what to expect when we add another inflight magazine to our portfolio. However, this response has been overwhelming! Since Smile went onboard on October 1 the magazine has been flying off the planes as fast we can put them on.”

Gerry Rickets, Managing Director of Ink’s Singapore office, said: “The incredible passenger response to Smile shows what a huge amount of value our current advertisers are receiving. It also highlights what an incredible opportunity this is for potential advertisers who want to connect to Cebu’s desirable demographic of high-spending travellers. As this response shows, this is the perfect time for advertisers to get onboard.”

With a readership of more than 600,000 per bi-monthly issue, Smile is a showcase for all things that are great about the Philippines, providing independent and authoritative travel information for those who may not be familiar with the destination of their choice. Delivered in a light-hearted style are stories of interest to Cebu Pacific’s passengers. Its contents reflect its reader: vibrant, savvy, fun and intelligent.

Candice Alabanza-Iyog, Marketing Director of Cebu Pacific, said: "From Manila to Cebu to Davao, our guests have clearly stated that they are as thrilled with the first issue of Smile as we are. The purpose of the magazine is to provide entertainment and information to our guests in a way they will connect with – we feel Ink has undoubtedly achieved this goal and more.”

Smile is an important part of Ink Publishing’s expanding Asian portfolio, which includes Bangkok Airways Fah Thai, Cebu Pacific’s Smile, Siam Reap International Airways’ Sarika and CNN Traveller Asia Pacific. Cebu Pacific flies to 20 domestic destinations, namely; Manila, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Clark, Cotabato, Dipolog, Dumaguete, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Laoag, Legaspi, Puerto Princesa, Roxas, Tacloban, Tagbilaran, Zamboanga, and to 6 international destinations, namely; Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Pusan and Incheon.
