[London and Dubai]
Ink Publishing has won the contract to launch a new inflight magazine for
Kuwait and Dubai based airline Jazeera Airways, the fastest growing
international airline in the Middle East.
With contents produced in both English and Arabic, the first quarterly issue of
J was (published on) 1 December 2007.
Ink’s burgeoning international publishing portfolio now includes over 30
inflight magazines produced in 14 languages.
“We chose Ink Publishing because of their proven track record with launching
innovative, commercially successful inflight magazines,” says “Mr. Fawaz Al-
Sirri, Jazeera Airways Communications Manager”
Mr Al-Sirri continued: "J magazine is unlike any other inflight magazine and
indeed unlike any other magazine in the Middle East. It surely adds to the inflight
experience."
After having made a profit and increased traffic at its home base, Kuwait
International Airport, by 14% in its first year of operation, in February last
year the airline was the first in the region to open a second hub in Dubai,
making it the only low-cost airline in the city. Travellers flying from Dubai now
have the choice of 16 different destinations around the region, including nonstop
flights from Dubai to Kuwait, Bahrain, the Maldives, Beirut, Delhi, Mumbai
and Kochi.
All Jazeera Airways aircraft are brand new and luxuriously fitted with its
signature leather seats in keeping with the airline's low cost/high quality
business model.
Simon Leslie, Group Publishing Director of Ink Publishing said "Jazeera Airways
has the fastest growing network in the Middle East, and will fly over 1.6 million
passengers in the first year of publication. We have been watching the airline’s
progress for nearly two years now, and are confident that J magazine will be
another winning publication in our portfolio.
Leslie continued: “Jazeera Airways has made an incredible impact on the
regional travel market, with both business and leisure passengers coming back
again and again for Jazeera Airways’ enjoyable travel experience and first rate
Jazeera Plus premium cabin and service. J Magazine is specifically geared
toward this unique, captive audience.”
Michael Keating, Ink Publishing’s Group Creative Director added, “J is not the typical inflight or travel magazine. It does not exclusively promote the Kuwait
or Dubai hubs, but taps into what is exciting, new and being ‘talked about’
across the whole network. In keeping with the groundbreaking success of the
airline, we will cover fashion like Cosmopolitan, cars like Motor Trend,
celebrities like Hello, business like Fast Company, health like Glamour and
destinations like Time Out."

About Jazeera Airways
In 2004 the Kuwait Government permitted the establishment of non-governmental airlines,
essentially ending Kuwait’s 50-year old dependency on a single airline. The 2004 Emiree Decree
#89 established Jazeera Airways as first airline to enter this newly liberalized industry. Jazeera
Airways is privileged to carry the national flag of Kuwait as the country’s new national airline.
Today, Jazeera Airways is a Kuwait Public Shareholding Company listed on the Kuwait Stock
Exchange with a capital of KD20 million. The airline is the first and only airline in Kuwait and the
Middle East that is neither owned nor subsidized by any government, and one of the few airlines
in the Middle East built on a low-fare business model.
Jazeera Airways started operation from it’s Kuwait hub on October 30, 2005 with a fleet of
brand new Airbus A320s, all leather seats, flying to the Middle East’s most popular destinations
for both business and leisure. In February 2007, the airline opened a second hub in Dubai.
The airline already has 6 aircraft in service, and is poised for continued growth after having
recently increased its order of new Airbus A320's from 10 to 40 aircraft.
